About

As a counselling psychologist, I have experience working with a diverse clientele across a range of concerns, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, depression, mild to moderate psychiatric disorders, academic and occupational stressors, experiences of abuse and violence, relationship difficulties, and concerns related to sexuality and gender. I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology, with specialisation in Clinical and Counselling Psychology. As part of my training, I have developed competencies in multiple therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and the basics of Couple and Family Therapy. My training has also included Expressive Arts approaches, as well as psychological assessment and diagnosis. Additionally, I am a certified queer-affirmative practitioner. My therapeutic approach is client-centred, collaborative, and personalised. I work with clients to understand their experiences in depth and to explore pathways forward that are meaningful and relevant to their lives. Rather than focusing solely on quick solutions or advice, I aim to facilitate self-awareness and insight, with the goal of empowering individuals with knowledge and tools grounded in their lived realities that they can draw upon in the long term. My work is also trauma-informed. I recognise the ways in which trauma can shape emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, and I prioritise safety, choice, and respect within the therapeutic process so that clients feel supported and in control of their journey. I also emphasise an ecological perspective on mental health. I recognise that our identities, such as gender, sexuality, culture, family roles, and social background, interact with broader ecological systems, including access to education and employment, policy environments, climate realities, and technological shifts. These interconnected factors can significantly shape mental health and the ways individuals navigate their lives. In my practice, I strive to create a therapeutic space that is safe, affirming, and respectful, where these dimensions of a person’s identity and context are acknowledged and thoughtfully integrated into the therapeutic process.
