About

The seeds of Zoey's interest in psychology were sown when she was 13 years old after watching the drama Every Move You Make on TV. It made her realise how fascinating psychology was and sparked her interest in all things psychology-related. She went on to pursue a degree in psychology, despite initially not receiving support from her parents. During her first year, her late grandmother was diagnosed with depression. This experience further fuelled her passion for psychology and crystallised her desire to become a clinical psychologist to support those in need. Zoey has conducted psychological and neuropsychological assessments, court-referred custody evaluations, and provided individual psychotherapy. She has experience working in a public hospital in Singapore. Her previous internships and work experience have given her exposure to working with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and refugees facing anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessions and compulsions, sleep difficulties, anger issues, eating concerns, suicidal thoughts, and other mental health challenges. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is her primary therapeutic approach, grounded in the belief that our thoughts shape who we are. During her training, she received in-depth supervision and training in CBT under Dr Joel Low, former President of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (MSCP). She also integrates skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her practice and has received training in Schema Therapy as well as Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). Feedback from her clients has consistently highlighted that they feel comfortable working with her and are able to open up in ways they had not expected prior to seeking therapy. One particularly meaningful piece of feedback came from a client who shared that their work together had changed her life and expressed hope that Zoey would continue making a positive impact on others seeking help. Zoey hopes to journey alongside her clients as they navigate their own paths. Her own humble journey is a constant reminder that life is never a perfectly smooth line, but rather an undulating one that rises and falls. However, “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” and if her clients have the will, she is committed to walking with them every step of the way.
