About

I am a dance and movement therapist with a background in performance, expressive arts, and body-based therapeutic practices. I hold an MA in Dance and Movement Therapy from SRH University Heidelberg and a BA in Literature and Language from İstanbul University. My work is grounded in the understanding of the body as relational, expressive, and deeply shaped by personal, cultural, and sociopolitical contexts. I am currently working in a private practice in Heidelberg, where I facilitate a weekly dance and movement therapy group with clients experiencing PTSD, depression, eating disorders, and self-harm. I work under clinical supervision and am responsible for session planning, documentation, and therapeutic process reflection. Alongside my clinical training, I have several years of experience facilitating trauma-informed movement workshops with NGOs and community organizations in Turkey and Germany, working with post-earthquake communities, incarcerated individuals, immigrant women, and post-COVID recovery groups. My therapeutic orientation is integrative and body-centered, drawing primarily from Dance and Movement Therapy, expressive arts therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, breathwork, and Compassionate Inquiry. I am particularly interested in relational attunement, non-verbal communication, somatic awareness, and the role of compassion and safety in therapeutic transformation. My academic research has focused on how sociopolitical and cultural contexts shape bodily experience and movement in therapy, using qualitative thematic analysis of therapist interviews across different countries. In addition to my academic degrees, I am currently in the Compassionate Inquiry Professional Training Program developed by Gabor Maté. My further trainings include art therapy and painting, harmonic flow aquatic therapy, family constellation work, deep tissue body therapy and anatomy, and advanced yoga teacher training. These diverse trainings inform my holistic and culturally sensitive approach to therapy, allowing me to meet clients through movement, sensation, imagery, and embodied meaning-making.
