About

As a therapist intern, I work under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals to provide supportive and ethical care to clients while developing my clinical skills and professional identity. My role involves assisting with intake assessments, gathering psychosocial histories, and contributing to the development and implementation of treatment plans based on clients’ individual needs and goals. I participate in individual and group therapy sessions, where I apply foundational counseling techniques and evidence-based interventions appropriate to the setting and population served. I am responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with ethical guidelines and organizational policies. I collaborate closely with supervisors, clinicians, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and effective care. Through regular supervision and case consultations, I reflect on my clinical work, receive feedback, and strengthen my understanding of therapeutic approaches, ethical decision-making, and professional boundaries. In addition to direct client work, I engage in ongoing learning through training sessions, workshops, and self-study to enhance my knowledge of mental health conditions, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care. I strive to approach clients with empathy, respect, and cultural humility, recognizing the importance of creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. Overall, my work as a therapist intern focuses on building clinical competence, professionalism, and ethical practice while contributing meaningfully to the mental health and well-being of clients under supervision.
