I am a Mental Health Nurse with 27 years’ experience in acute inpatient and community services . I am currently working in an outreach satellite service in rural Waikato - central to south allocation. The satellite service is in a Community House that has a range of primary care services and includes a family violence intervention team. My role is to work with clients as they navigate care from acute services to primary care and assist with building relationships with community resources such as counsellors and social supports. I connect both on line and in person with my multi discipline team that is based in Hamilton I am experienced in assessment and recovery care planning from mental health risk / acute entry to the service through to full recovery in the community. I work with a wide range of different mental health illnesses while focused on reducing risk I am experienced in assisting clients achieving ongoing recovery of functioning. I am experienced with the requirements of the Mental Health Act. When assessing clients I draw on my experience using the DBT model, my CBT skills, and knowledge of solution focused therapy to tailor an approach that best suits the individual client’s needs. I am a Level 3 EMDR Therapist under supervision for cases and am working to obtain full EMDR practising. My supervisor is Phil Nottingham, EMDR Consultant NZ/UK. I have been practising EMDR for 4 years in an acute setting with clients with complex high needs and co morbidities . In addition to the above I am currently contracted on a part-time basis to Bewell Psychiatry for private on-line ADHD screening.
