About

I hold a master's degree and currently studying to obtain my PhD in clinical psychology from Cairo University. I am a licensed psychotherapist from the Egyptian ministry of health and a member of the board of directors for the Egyptian Psychotherapists Association. I was the counselling centre coordinator in an NGO working with refugees and asylum seekers. My practice lies in skills training approaches which teach you the needed skills to build the life you want for yourself. Starting from how to be aware of your thought process, modifying beliefs about yourself, others and the world to emotion regulation, interpersonal skills, mindfulness, stress tolerance and finally, acceptance, exploring and sticking to values and taking committed actions towards your personal goals. I worked in various mental health hospitals, outpatient clinics and NGOs. This wide range of experience helped me work with different problems, from mood disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, and addiction to couple and sexual problems. My philosophy in practice with adults is to work together to understand what the human experience means for you by applauding human capacities and aspirations while simultaneously acknowledging our human limitations. We focus on concepts including life, death, freedom, responsibility, passion and purpose. All in the journey of getting deeply and profoundly in touch with your own needs and reaching the meaning of life. Meanwhile, with couples, I focus with you and your partner on your present relationship conflicts by taking a deep look at how it was shaped by your interactions with your parents, your previous relationships, your and your partner's attachment styles, your own insecurities, the difference in your personality traits and unmet needs to reach a middle ground of communicating and connecting through acceptance and change. I try to be my genuine, authentic self in the session to provide you with a corrective emotional experience to feel safe and comfortable expressing yourself and opening up in an accepting, non-judgmental setting. I truly believe a good therapist asks the right questions to help you find the answers within yourself. If we meet in a session, we will work together to understand your struggles and help you grow into your true self to achieve the fulfilling worthwhile life you deserve.
