An Emergency and Occupational Health Physician provides high-quality medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries in the emergency setting and ensures the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees through occupational health programs. The physician is responsible for emergency assessment, stabilization, and management of patients, as well as preventive and rehabilitative care for workplace-related conditions. --- Key Responsibilities: Emergency Medicine Duties: Provide immediate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting to the emergency department. Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, resuscitation, wound care, and trauma stabilization. Triage patients effectively to ensure timely care according to severity. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (surgeons, physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals). Ensure documentation of patient assessment, treatment, and outcomes in medical records. Participate in emergency preparedness, mass casualty response, and disaster management planning. Occupational Health Duties: Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical examinations. Assess and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Advise employers and employees on workplace health risks, ergonomics, and preventive measures. Develop and implement health surveillance and wellness programs. Monitor and report occupational diseases, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Promote health education and injury prevention within the workplace. --- Qualifications and Experience: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent). Postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine or Occupational Health (or equivalent certification). Valid medical license to practice. Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, ATLS, PALS preferred). Minimum 3–5 years of experience in emergency or occupational health practice. --- Key Skills and Competencies: Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work under pressure in high-stress situations. Knowledge of occupational health regulations and risk assessment. Empathy, professionalism, and ethical conduct. Strong organizational and documentation skills. --- Work Environment: Emergency department, occupational health clinic, or corporate/industrial setting. May involve shift work, on-call duties, and exposure to clinical or industrial hazards.
